Reveley to assess horses` fitness

Mary Reveley is putting her weekend plans on hold until assessing the performances of her runners at Newbury tomorrow.

The English trainer has her show back on the road for the first time since the big freeze at the Berkshire track where she sends Random Harvest for the Harwell Showcase Handicap Chase and Carrick Troop in the TFM Cyntergy Handicap Chase.

She admitted that she is not sure how fit her horses are after being held up by the cold snap over the New Year.

'We`ve been held up here. It will be interesting to see how they run tomorrow and we`ll know whether they are fit enough then,' said Mrs Reveley.

'Catterick is off tomorrow and there`s still frost in the ground here.

'It is warmer today, so we`ve been able to get them out but just on the sand track cantering.'

Mrs Reveley has entered October Mist in the Grade Two Victor Chandler Online Novices` Chase over two miles at Ascot on Saturday.

'He possibly won`t run, but we`ll see after tomorrow.'

October Mist made a sensational chasing debut when flooring Barton at Wetherby in November but the seven-year-old gelding fell at the second last fence on his return there in the valuable Castleford Chase over Christmas.

'He`s all right now,' she said.

And Mrs Reveley has yet to decide whether Sad Mad Bad goes for the Tote Scoop6 Warwickshire Gold Cup Chase over three and a quarter miles at Warwick.

'He`s out of the handicap. I haven`t made my mind up about him yet. It might make a difference how the horses run tomorrow,' she said.

Sad Mad Bad, owned by British Horseracing Board chairman Peter Savill, is on a hat-trick after wins at Uttoxeter in October and Plumpton the following month.
